Big Chop Spotlight On: Fortunate

Date of Big Chop: December 15, 2012

Hair Type: 4b

Reasons for doing the Big Chop: "Transitioned to natural due to boredom with permanently straight hair and I was also curious and intrigued by my natural roots."

My new goals: "I do not have a specific length goal as of now, I'm just excited to finally be natural and my journey will focus on retaining and growing healthy hair!"

Big Chop Spotlight On: Celeste

Date of Big Chop: March 18, 2012

Hair Type: 4a/4b

Reasons for doing the Big Chop: "I decided to go natural and big chop after a long relaxer stretch (10 months). I fell in love with the hair growing out of my scalp and I wanted to also lead by example. My daughter, who was 12 at the time and natural all her life, needed a role model that had hair like hers. She was beginning to question her own beauty. I couldn't have that. Needless to say my relaxer stretch turned into a 15 month transition period. My natural hair was at a length I was comfortable with and I was over the two texture madness. So I big chopped."

My new goals: "My hair goals as a new Naturalista are to continue getting to know my hair, build a solid healthy hair regimen, and retain as much length as possible through protective styling."
